The perfect Poured Floor Insulation for your project

30 Sep , 2021

Based in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, ADM Floor Screed Ltd is a poured floor insulation and liquid screed solutions specialist which has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2018.

Providing an unrivalled service throughout Ireland, the family-run business recently invested in its first Mobile Screed Factory which has a wide range of capabilities, the main one being that it’s able to mix materials on-site. Working in partnership with Energystore Ltd and RTU Ultraflo, the company is a certified supplier / installer of Ultraflo and TLA which is a unique Thermal Lightweight Aggregate used in over 40 countries worldwide and was first introduced to the UK and Irish markets three years ago.

Using its Mobile Screed Factory and a team of skilled installers, ADM Floor Screed manufactures, supplies and installs poured floor insulation and liquid screed for both domestic and commercial projects.

The company was set up by the McEntegart family in 2018 and was named after Adrian McEntegart (Ady), who sadly passed away in 2015.

“I thought it would be a nice way to honour his memory. Ady, Michael and I worked in construction in New York for years and our kids were born over there. We were never too far apart,” director Patrick McEntegart explains.

“The business has grown to the extent that we’re now operating nationwide. We’re getting lots of inquiries about our TLA Poured Floor Insulation and the new Mobile Screed Factory has given us full control of both quality and quantity of material needed for each project. It has made our lives so much easier and we’re able to pass on the savings to our customers.”

TLA Poured Floor Insulation conforms easily around first fixing pipes and services and can be walked on within 48 hours. It replaces the need to fit traditional PIR Board which can be very time consuming with a lot of waste. Underfloor heating pipes are then easily fixed into place before being finished with Ultraflo Liquid Screed.

A new concept in floor insulation and extremely cost-effective, TLA can achieve Thermal Conductivity as low as 0.043 W/m-k, enabling projects to achieve their conservation requirements, and has installed density as low as 130 kg/m3, therefore can be applied directly on top of hardcore, concrete subfloors and beam and block floors, reducing the cement content in a floor construction.

Due to TLA’s unique combination of low density, thermal and acoustic insulation properties, there are many suitable uses for the product, including balconies, void filler, metal decking systems, refurbishment projects that required the levelling of uneven floors prior to screed, and insulated screed (it’s possible to apply waterproofing applications directly onto TLA to create a very lightweight insulated structure).

“Eliminating the tedious time-consuming and costly process of delivering, storing, cutting and fitting traditional insulated boards, ADM Floor Screed can provide an alternative solution whereby insulation is ‘poured’ at the required depth and levelled, resulting in one solid slab of insulation with no joints or voids, thus ensuring all services and pipework at subfloor level are completely covered,” Patrick says.

“Consisting of EPS Bead / Cement / Additives and water, TLA poured insulation is batched on-site using our Mobile Screed Factory and pumped into place achieving a highly-effective insulated thermal screed that has exceptional thermal, acoustic and lightweight characteristics.

“Our poured floor insulation provides an airtight uniform and consistent layer of insulation that has no movement whatsoever and doesn’t shrink or expand, creating a reliable layer of insulation compatible with all finish screeds.”

He continues: “Traditional floor insulation methods often produce logistical problems and delays to an entire project. We offer a complete time-efficient alternative requiring no additional labour costs and eliminating expensive time delays. Our team of experts alongside our state-of-the-art Mobile Screed Factory can install 1,000m2 per day at the required depth, allowing for increased productivity on-site.

“Engineers, architects and builders see the benefits of TLA. It’s cost-effective and speeds up the whole process.”

ADM Floor Screed’s Mobile Screed Factory is a computer-controlled fully automatic batching vehicle that mixes and pumps screed and insulation from on-board dry materials directly at the building site. For  the customer, this gives a number of important advantages which include: no prolonged waits as  sometimes happens with conventional mixer lorries; you are given priority with no mixer lorries having  to be diverted between sites at times of high demand; no wastage – you pay for exactly what is required  to complete your job to required levels.

“We’re constantly investing in new plant and equipment. We have a number of back-up vehicles for our Mobile Screed Factory which supply it with extra materials when the need arises. We’re hoping to add a second Mobile Screed Factory in the near future. One would work with TLA and the other with liquid screed.”

As an essential service, the Co. Monaghan company remained operational during the different COVID-19 lockdowns of the past year and boasts an impressive portfolio of completed projects for a wide range of clients nationwide.

“We’ll go wherever the work is. Distance isn’t a problem. You’re only as good as your last job and that’s why quality, attention to detail and value-for-money are so important to us. We treat every job, regardless of size, as if it was our own.”

The affable Crossmaglen man concludes by thanking his customers and suppliers for their continued support, and his staff for their hard work, dedication and skill.
