Quality Assured

28 Jul , 2022

Established in 2008, Assured Services Ltd has gained a glowing reputation as specialists in renovation, extension, new build and civil construction. Building Ireland touched base with its founders Eddie and Tom Carroll to find out more about this thriving construction and civil engineering company with bases in Dublin and Wexford.

Business is good these days at Assured Services Ltd and the plan for brothers (and company directors) Eddie and Tom Carroll is to try and keep things that way going forward.

Operating out of Dublin city centre with an additional office in Wexford, the company provides its clients a wide range of construction services to both the private and public sectors.

The business itself employs four full-time staff and specialises primarily in extensions and renovations for private clients.

Building Ireland touched base with both of the Carroll brothers recently to learn all about the business – from its origins to the current state of business for their company.

“We’re based in 8 Bloom Lane, Dublin 1 and my brother Tom operates another base out of Wexford,” Eddie outlined.

“We do a lot of Dublin City Council work and at the moment we have a project on-going at Glenageary Lawn Tennis Club.”

Specialists in renovation, extension, new build and civil construction, Assured Services Ltd delivers high quality, bespoke building projects to its clients.

The company has extensive experience in house building, extensions, renovations and small civil works for Dublin City Council as well as private clients.

Since ‘Day One’, Assured Services Ltd has prided itself on the quality of its work with customer satisfaction always paramount.

From renovations and extensions to green field builds, the Carroll brothers’ company specialises in delivering bespoke homes to the highest building standards and finish.

Now with a glowing reputation for carrying out work of the highest standards, Assured Services Ltd has come a long way from the time when it was first established.

2008 would surely have been one of the toughest times to set-up a construction and civil works business venture in this country, but the Carroll brothers made it work.

“We’d both worked for a bigger builder for many years and gained a lot of experience there,” outlined Eddie.

“Eventually, we took the decision to move on and do something else for ourselves. My background would’ve been in concrete and Tom’s would’ve been in carpentry, so we saw the opportunity to start up this kind of business.

“Getting off the ground at that time was tough, but we had a good few contacts already made and, once we got going on a couple of different projects, we didn’t look back and, thankfully, we’re still here today.”

Right now, business is thriving at Assured Services Ltd but it’s not without its challenges.

The rising costs in both labour and materials for projects is making life more and more difficult for company owners like Eddie and Tom.

The hope is that costs will level out eventually while the company continues on providing its clients with projects which are top of the line.

“We’re busy enough at the moment and just finishing up a few jobs before we move on to others,” said Eddie.

“There’s a serious shortage of labour out there at the moment and, as well as that, everything has gone up in price.

“So, the work is there but prices at the moment when it comes to materials are through the roof.”

This past November saw the company delivering one its proudest projects to date in the form of Lemongrove House down in Blackstoops, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.

Contracted by Resilience Care, a leading health and social care provider, Assured Services Ltd started its renovation work on the project in April 2021 and had it completed in November.

Today, Lemongrove House boasts state-of-the-art residential service dedicated for supporting people with Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS), having officially been opened by Minister for Disability, Anne Rabbitte, TD at the end of November.

Tom Carroll oversaw Assured Services Ltd’s work on the project which was valued at €300,000 for the company.

“The building itself was a B&B in Blackstoops which was purchased by Resilience Care,” explained Tom.

“We were contracted to carry out the works which when completed saw it converted into four self-contained apartments.”

The project is another to add to the impressive portfolio of Assured Services.

So, the burning question is, what has been the secret to the company’s success over the past 14 years?

How has a small start-up grown into a construction and civil works business with a beaming reputation around Dublin and the south east.

For Eddie, it’s mostly down to a consistency in churning out high quality projects year in, year out.

“A lot of the work we get is through word of mouth,” said the co-director.

“We carry out very high-quality work here and I don’t really know of anyone that has been left unhappy with a project we’ve carried out for them.”

Looking towards the months ahead, Eddie is hoping the business can grow and land a couple of large projects along the way.

“I’d like to think that we can get a little bit bigger here, do bigger work and carry out bigger projects for our clients,” he concluded.
