16 Jul , 2021

Specialising in the consistent delivery of high-quality residential, healthcare and conservation/heritage projects to the very highest standards across the capital and south east, DHD Construction Ltd. has emerged as one of Ireland’s leading construction companies since its inception a decade and a half ago. Building Ireland touched base with joint Managing Director Padraig Moriarty to get an update on this exceptional, industry-leading operation.

Synonymous with stellar workmanship and the keenest attention to detail on every job, DHD Construction invariably delivers the goods on new build and renovation / restoration projects alike, providing a full range of construction services across the residential, commercial, retail, healthcare and education sectors.

In recent years, the Wexford town headquartered company has carved a niche for itself as a veritable specialist within the healthcare sector, delivering a large number of primary care centres, nursing homes and GP facilities both for the HSE and private clients.

With professionalism, dedication and quality a given, DHD is also much sought after for conservation / heritage works and boasts a proven track record for delivering stunning, high-end residential homes.

The company has made its mark in the 15 years since its genesis in 2005, benefiting from a large volume of repeat business supplemented by a steady flow of positive referrals as a direct consequence of its ability to consistently deliver all projects to programme, on budget and within the agreed timeframe, collaborating closely with clients and design teams to ensure absolute satisfaction on projects large and small.

Versatile and flexible, the highly-skilled staff and technical experts at DHD Construction’s disposal are as adept working on a nursing home, school or new home as they are a housing development, industrial unit, hotel, restaurant, retail unit, commercial or residential extension, or apartment and office fit outs.

Essentially, DHD can fulfil all construction requirements and their systems ensure that contracts are completed efficiently, safely and in accordance with stated project objectives. DHD are ready to enter the construction process at any stage. They can provide a design service culminating in a turnkey design-and-build solution. They offer peace of mind to customers, who can rest assured that the initial quotation will represent the final project cost. Although they operate primarily within the Greater Dublin and Leinster areas, DHD Construction have the capacity and wherewithal to work all over Ireland and have considerable experience of completing an array of projects nationwide, from Galway city to Donnybrook, Donegal to Wexford.

DHD Construction’s staff take ownership of all projects and are professional, committed and enthusiastic.

Quality has been at the forefront of every project completed by DHD Construction and joint MD Padraig Moriarty confirms that the company has been firmly focussed on instilling the highest levels of quality across every aspect of its operations since Day One:

“That’s what we are known for,” he comments. “We pride ourselves on quality and this has allowed us to take on a lot of heritage and conservation work in recent years – an area where we really get to showcase our skillset.”

Indeed, the painstaking attention to detail required within this specialist area of construction decrees that it is only open to the most thorough, experienced and professional contractors. DHD ticks all these boxes and has successfully completed work on a number of prestigious, protected sites across the city including 31 Merrion Square, 14 Merrion Square, 63 Lower Mount Street, 10 Mill Street, Newmarket, 35 Fitzwilliam Place and 21 Fitzwilliam Place to mention just a selection.

At the time of writing, the DHD Construction team was busy working on a variety of projects, including Beaumont Lodge Nursing Home in Artane for Bartra Healthcare, an apartment complex in Stoneybatter and Edenmore Primary Care Centre on Tonlegee Road, which also comprises the refurbishment of an existing youth centre and construction of a new extension for the local boxing club.

Some past projects in the impressive DHD portfolio include Royal Academy of Music, Westland Row; Teelings Distillery and Visitors Centre, Newmarket; Ashling Hotel, Parkgate Street, Dublin; Citywest Nursing Home; Summerhill Primary Care Centre; Ashbourne Primary Care Centre; Culmullen National School, Co. Meath; and Cara Care Centre, Northwood.

All projects are completed to the highest standard, in accordance with architect drawings, details and specifications and comply with best practice and building regulations as well as planning and other local and national government requirements.

DHD Construction Ltd. has a clear organisation structure with division of responsibilities in order to serve the various areas of operation. Its managers, engineers and technicians are drawn from the premier engineering and technical institutes and have expertise in all areas of construction, renovation and fit outs. Meanwhile, an ongoing training programme keeps employees up to date on innovations in the industry and strengthens their commitment to excellence.

Direct employment is generated for 30 people, while that number could rise to 100 at a conservative estimate including DHDs’ use of tried and trusted subcontractors. “We’re very busy at the moment and we’re looking at more primary care centres and nursing homes, so I’m confident that 2021 is going to be another successful and busy year for DHD Construction,” Padraig concludes. “There’s plenty of work in the pipeline and we’ll be making sure that we continue to maintain the high standards we’re renowned for.”
