The recently-completed construction contract to provide the new ICT Hub at National University of Ireland, Maynooth stands as a proud testimony to the excellent high quality construction and fit out achieved by their experienced management personnel, skilled workforce and supply chain.

The wide range of construction contracts undertaken over the years has seen the company complete numerous projects in the Education, Health, Pharmaceutical, Research, Leisure, Cultural, Commercial, Industrial, Ecclesiastical and residential sectors including new construction, fit out and civil engineering works. Over the years, Tracey Brothers’ reputation has been built on providing a skilled workforce and a disciplined management team that delivers contracts completed to exact client specification, within budget and on programme. Their registration as a Chartered Building Company is testament to the commitment Tracey Brothers make to the quality of service they provide, the integrity of conduct they and their staff operate with and their commitment to meeting their client’s needs.

The company’s success has been built on a reputation for the highest quality from design through to completion.

As contracts manager Donal McGloin confirms, a complete range of services is provided: “We pride ourselves in being able to adopt our services to the needs of individual clients, being able to provide full design services from concept stage or develop early stage designs to allow high quality construction and fit out to be completed on site. Similarly for some clients the services required are traditional construction services which are perhaps complicated by the clients need to phase the new development around the ongoing operations of their existing business or fast track fit out projects where the key is completion by a key date for our clients. In each instance our management team will work closely with the client to ensure we fully understand their priorities and tailor our services to suit that’’

In keeping with its geographical location, the County Fermanagh headquartered company boasts strong cross-border ties: “The tradition of working in the Republic of Ireland can be traced back to the early 1970s,” notes Donal. “Given our location our staff naturally emanates from both sides of the border and as the company grew and expanded its operating area the progression both sides of the border just occurred naturally. Recently we have completed projects in the education, leisure and industrial sectors in counties Sligo, Leitrim, Monaghan, Kildare and Carlow.’’

Managing Director John Tracey indicated “The new €10m ITC Hub at NUI Maynooth is a fine example of a complex. highly-serviced and high quality finished building completed to a very high standard with minimal disruption within a very busy operational University campus complex’’

The new four-storey, 8,000m² ICT (Information Communications Technology) Hub building in the North Campus of NUI Maynooth has been built to accommodate undergraduate teaching; postgraduate & academic staff research; a business incubation centre; and associated stores and plant rooms. Site development works were also completed by Tracey Brothers. Accommodating the Department of the Computer Science and the research institutes including IVI (The Innovation Value Institute), Hamilton Institute and Callan Institute, as well as Business Incubation Centre for start-up companies, the building is constructed on reinforced concrete beam and pad foundations with a concrete framed superstructure. The external envelope include built-up roof coverings, curtain walling, rainscreen cladding; stonework and insulated render. We worked closely with our client at NUI Maynooth as well as their design team to ensure internally the building is fully finished and fitted out to a high quality exacting standard.

Complex Mechanical and Electrical Services installations were fully coordinated with each other and the building structure and finishes from an early stage assisted in the on site achievement of high quality services installation and commissioning and ease of handover to and start up by the client.  Siteworks included the construction of ancillary site structures, a permeable paving car-park and set-down area as well as asphalt set-down area,  plaza, boardwalk, stone paving areas all complimented by soft landscaping and street furniture.

“Other recent projects include the completion of the new Erne East Sports Complex in Clones as well as the extension and refurbishment works to Schoil Bhride National School, Killcullen and Tullow Community College. On these projects we provided a full design-and-build service whereby we complemented our traditional construction services with design services by engaging suitably experienced professional Architectural and Engineering practices to work closely with our construction management team to ensure the final design solutions we provide benefit from both the knowledge of the specialist designers and ourselves as experienced contractors to provide the most efficient high quality design and construction solution to suit each site and client’’

Having been established some sixty years Tracey Brothers are no strangers to recessions and that experience helped them adopt to challenging market conditions that have existed over recent years in the construction industry leaving Tracey Brothers in a strong position going forward. Looking to the future John is optimistic that Tracey Brothers can continue to thrive throughout the island of Ireland.

“It has certainly been challenging but by broadening our services base and operational areas we have been able to retain and build upon our experienced staff base throughout this period which leaves us in a strong position if the projected turn around in the construction industry occurs. In coming years hopefully there will be increased demand both in the private sector with the growth of the domestic market plus further investment from multinationals combined with predicted growth in areas such as the facilities for student residential accommodation’’

Their commitment to continuous development and improvement of services means future should certainly see Tracey Brothers Ltd continue to take their place in the forefront of the Irish construction sector, providing clients with high quality bespoke developments.
