Over the past decade, Riverside Mechanical Ltd has grown to become one of the market leaders in the building services sector.

Building Ireland spoke to one of the company’s Quality Managers – Helen McManus to find out about the company’s growth and some of the major projects they’ve undertaken as of late.

Since their inception in 2005, Riverside Mechanical has been noted as experts in all aspects of Mechanical and Building Services, specialising specifically in HVAC, BMS installation and more recently have expanded their expertise with electrical, design and build aspects of the business.

A family owned Mechanical Services Company with offices in Dublin and London, Riverside Mechanical has grown to be one of the market leaders in their sector with an extensive project portfolio they have gained a reputation for competence, quality and competitiveness.

Helen explained a little about their staff figures and leading personnel.

“Riverside is established 11 years now and have a large staff here at the moment, which has steadily increased year on year,” said Helen.

“Derek Brennan is the Managing Director of the company and along with our competent and experienced Contracts Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors, Engineers and especially all our experienced trades personnel help to ensure that Riverside can deliver the most professional service on every project, every time.

“This ethos continues within our Dublin Headquarters where commitment to the high-quality completion of all of our projects is paramount.”

Over the years the company has evolved with the changing economic climate to provide a tailored service to suit all budgets, Helen explained the economic downturn did not have a significant impact on the business and she also outlined that overall the company has been expanding as of late.

“We were extremely careful as a company during the downturn but continued to improve our services. On reflection, the company’s turnover increased during the years of recession.

“We have grown steadily in recent years, which we attribute to improving our quality, range of services and high quality completion of projects,” said the Quality Manager.

Quality
“We are delighted that Riverside Mechanical has been certified ISO 9001:2008 for its quality management system,” added Helen.

“The achievement is one we are particularly proud of as it demonstrates our on-going commitment to providing the highest quality service to our clients and further establishes Riverside as a leader in the services industry.”

The state-of-the-art facility, which is projected to be finished this November, will consist of three main indoor training centres. These will include one with a 200-metre track, sprint track, jump and throw areas and seating for up to 1,900 spectators, totalling 420,000sq ft.

“The on-going Grangegorman Re-Development for DIT has been a notable series of projects for us,” said Helen.

These projects involved the creation of the new DIT Campus, at Grangegorman, in Dublin’s north inner city. The new campus is the largest investment in 3rd level education, in the history of the State.

Previous works on the site involved Riverside undertaking the refurbishment, conversion and new build installations of HVAC systems and building services within five of the existing buildings on site, including protected structures.

At present Riverside is undertaking works on the new build Primary Care Centre which will form the core of the HSE area on the Grangegorman site. This new build incorporates one of the Protected Structures, the former Laundry Building into the construction and will provide GP and public nursing facilities as well as other health related services including optometry, occupational and physical therapy. The new facility is scheduled for completion in mid-2016.

“The company’s efficiency and first class service are two of the core reasons why its customers keep returning to Riverside,” explains Helen.
“We rely hugely on repeat business from our customers and this has been a key factor in Riverside’s growth.”

So why do Riverside Mechanical’s clients choose them first? Helen explains: “A lot of our clients choose us first as we’ve built up a good working relationship with them through high quality site works and proven ease of handover of the project. We start working with the client on compiling handover documentation from the start of the project which eliminates delays.”

The ethos of Riverside Mechanical and their commitment to the high-quality completion of all of their projects ensures a superior standard of installation.
