A one-stop shop for all your building needs

2 Sep , 2022

Founded in 2011 by Mark Marron, Shankill Construction is a leading civil engineering and building company with over 40 years’ experience based outside Shercock on the Monaghan-Cavan border.

Specialising in new build private dwellings, commercial and industrial builds, conversions, renovations, refurbishments and extensions, roofing, paving, property maintenance and Passive Housing, Shankill Construction is family-run with Mark being joined in the business by his wife Teresa and father Vincent as well as a fantastic crew of carpenters, block-layers and groundworks personnel.

The company prides itself on its personal service and ability to not only meet, but exceed its customers’ expectations. Superior workmanship, attention to detail, value-for-money and a commitment to working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the hallmarks of Shankill Construction.

Health & Safety is at the core of the business, and never more so than in this Covid-19 age. From concept to completion, Mark and his team of top-class tradesmen are with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs, and that there are no hidden or extra costs involved. All of their work complies with the highest industry regulations.

Whether your next project is a renovation, conversion, extension or new build, Shankill Construction’s one-stop-shop approach will ensure that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable and hassle-free. The Co. Monaghan contractor’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from architects and satisfied customers.

“We’re able to offer our customers the complete package,” says Mark, whose background is in civil works.

“We employ a team of skilled professionals and tradesmen, and are committed to providing our customers with the highest standards and services, from site clearance to completion.

“We provide a wide range of services, but because we’re so busy with residential work, that’s what we’re mainly focusing on at the moment. About 90% of our work is concentrated in the north Dublin area at present. We got a nice little job to get us going a few years ago and we’ve been there ever since.”

Mark has secured a lot of work in Skerries, including a magnificent 3,000 sq. ft. house with three balconies overlooking the sea which is currently under construction.

“We’ve picked up six or eight jobs in Skerries recently through word of mouth and recommendations from architects we work with. We’re also doing a renovation in Rush and are about to start a new build in Kingscourt, which is much closer to home for us.”

Committed to making your dream home a reality, Shankill Construction enjoys an excellent working relationship with sub-contractors and suppliers alike.

“We do the carpentry, groundworks and block-laying ourselves and subcontract the rest of the build, including the electrical and plumbing, to the same tried and trusted tradesmen.

“The likes of Aulden Electrical and Mullagh Heating & Plumbing are with us on nearly every job. We also work closely with Heat Pumps Ireland who are one of the largest suppliers of heat pump systems to the residential and commercial markets. Heat pumps have become the norm in new builds as they are cheaper to run than oil and gas boilers, and also reduce your carbon emissions.

“Our main supplier is Frazer’s Topline in Kingscourt.

“By employing highly-skilled people, working closely with our architects and using only the very best building products, we’re able to deliver the highest quality construction to our clients,” continues Mark, who is registered with CIRI and is also an SEAI grant approved contractor.

Shankill Construction can undertake any small-to-medium sized civil engineering project with its array of mini-diggers, excavators, teleporters and rock breakers. Paving and patios are a speciality. Mark has also completed a course which allows him to build to NZEB and Passive House standards.

“We’ve done a lot of groundworks projects for the likes of Lidl and SuperValu on behalf of Adston Construction in the past. But our main focus is on the residential sector right now,” the affable managing director says.

The cost of building materials has sky-rocketed during the pandemic and this is being acutely felt in the new build sector. “Like everyone else in the trade, I’m hoping that the cost of materials will stabilise soon. It’s putting a massive strain on our customers. However, most of them are realistic and are willing to work with you if they see that you’re being fair to them.”

Passionate about construction, Mark would like to take this opportunity to thank his customers, suppliers, staff, sub-contractors and architects for their continued support. Contact him today for a free consultation on your upcoming project.
