Westmeath Contractors delivering Emergency Projects

As part of the emergency construction projects delivered by contractors across Ireland during the Covid-19 lockdown, Westmeath contractors, Magan Construction were specified as the main contractors on the Connolly Hospital, Covid-19 emergency project in Dublin.

The project consisted of the refurbishment of a 22 bed, Covid-19 Unit at the hospital. New washroom facilities and high-tech kitchens were also included in the refurbishment. The project commenced with the demolition of the old exterior units with full site clearance and relaying and upgrading the entrance to the facility to ensure it is suitable for emergency access and pedestrians.

As part of the requirements to increases facilitates at the hospital unit, the refurbishment further required the installation of 2 new bases for oxygen generators. The new unit was all fit out with specialist clean room facilities for members of the medical teams. team members to change in a secure environment.

The project was handed over to the Health Service Executive in early May 2020 and is currently fully operational.
