There are many different aspects to choosing the right windows and doors for your home as quality, price, durability and look are high on home owners list of priorities.

Choosing the right windows and doors can be an arduous task as there is so much to choose from, but the expertise given by some firms in this industry is second to none and for this month’s edition of Building Ireland we profile one of Ireland’s leading window and door manufacturers.

Headquartered in Benburb, Co Tyrone and with a showroom in Collooney, Co Sligo and an office in Dublin city centre, the McMullan O’Donnell name has become synonymous with producing high quality products in the window and door manufacturing industry.

Established by Francis O’Donnell and Peter McMullan in 1981, the company has evolved over the years and are now regarded as one of the leading window and door specialists in Ireland.

Sales manager Paul McKillen told us that the company has always placed a great emphasis on manufacturing high quality products that meet stringent specifications.

“We are aware of the different requirements of our customers and our windows, doors and sun lounges are designed and manufactured to the highest standards to suit all demands,” said Paul.

More and more products are being developed in both doors and windows as the company strives to stay at the forefront in its field of expertise.

“We are constantly developing and even during the recession we never slacked off and were kept busy. The main reason for this is that we would work more in the commercial and industrial sectors more so than private housing developments.”

Customer service and competitive prices are something that McMullan O’Donnell continuously strive to meet in order to ensure that they continue to develop the business.

Of course, none of this would be possible without a reliable and efficient workforce that ensure customer satisfaction at all costs.

“There is between 100 and 150 employed in the company and all are highly motivated to ensure that customer service requirements and the company’s standards are met at all times.”

Modern technology has played a massive part in the evolvement of the business as computer-aided machining has helped enhance production.

“We realise that good results are not alone dependent on top of the range machinery. Our aim is to lead the market in all sectors. We focus on excellent craftsmanship, highly trained, customer orientated staff and continuous new product development.”

McMullan O’Donnell offers a range of windows and doors in both pvc-u and aluminium, from plain casement to fully reversible and sliding sash windows, from moulded infill panel to fully composite doors, supplied to provide excellence in performance, security, long life, reliability and low maintenance.

“We manufacture everything ourselves and business is good at the moment. We have broken into the English market and we are currently involved in fitting out a number of schools there. All the fitting would be done by ourselves also and our dedicated team are there to do the work to the proper regulations and specifications.”

Aluminium Systems are a big part of McMullan O’Donnell’s business and working with leading contractors they offer single source responsibility for the delivery of aluminium windows, curtain walling, doors and associated products.

The wealth of experience and product selection knowledge offered by the company aligned with a proven ability to deliver to time, cost and safety demands has played a massive part in their success.

“The extensive product range is aimed at satisfying the customers’ needs and exceeds most requirements and can provide their clients with a truly bespoke solution.”

Aesthetic appeal goes hand in hand with technical reliability and flexible application. Most importantly the systems produced fulfil the latest energy performance requirements and comply with the standards set by the CWCT.

There are numerous choices in casement windows with the white profile being the standard choice, while woodgrain white, cream, light oak, mahogany and bog oak finishes have become extremely popular in recent times.

Patio sliding doors are available in both in-line and tilt-sliding versions. As with all McMullan O’Donnell products, quality is the hallmark of our Patio and French doors. Insulation, strength and security are not sacrificed even in glass units of this scale and are fitted with special safety glass, as standard.

There are numerous reasons to install new windows and doors whether it be old ones that need replacing, giving your home a face-lift, extra comfort and security for the family, or to lower energy ratings – you’ll find the answer in the wide range of products on offer from McMullan O’Donnell.

“Business is going from strength to strength and the aim is to continue our high level of service to our ever-increasing customer base.”
