Mayfair Civils Limited is a rapidly growing family-owned and operated groundworks and civil engineering contractor based in Rostrevor, Co. Down whose experienced management and skilled staff bring a wealth of knowledge to the groundworks and civil engineering sector. Mayfair Civils is formed on a strong team work ethic and with its skilled and experienced personnel has established a standard of excellence that is recognized in the construction industry.

The company has a dedicated team of site staff consisting of surveyors, contracts managers, civil engineers and site foremen, along with its office-based inhouse Health & Safety and Accounts department, all working together to provide clients with an unrivalled service.

The majority of the firm’s business is generated within Ireland and in the UK. Mayfair Civils has a proven track record of delivering complex projects within budget and timeframe, whilst maintaining the highest levels of safety, sustainability and environmental management.

Civil engineering was a natural progression for the Devlin family as Harry Devlin ran a civil engineering company based in Hilltown for 40 years and has completed projects for shopping centres, schools, sports pitches and more throughout Ireland and the UK, including the locally renowned, Kilbroney Park, which is nestled in the Mourne Mountains.

His son Micheal has played a key role in sourcing, tendering, negotiating and finalising deals with clients. Now the Managing Director, Micheal has led the company’s growth and continues to avail of the vast knowledge and experience of Harry, who has remained involved as a trusted consultant.

Micheal has worked in the construction industry for 14 years, managing extensive projects in Ireland, Scotland and England. He has an outstanding rapport with both clients and employees, excellent business acumen and a flair for strategic planning making him the ideal person to bring the company into its next year of expansion.

“The aim is to stay competitive through our efficiency and timeliness in completing jobs,” says Micheal.

“We aim to expand through existing contracts, being awarded additional programs of work, but also to take on additional contracts with more main contractors within Ireland and the UK.”

The vision of Mayfair Civils was always to establish itself as a leading civil engineering specialist.

Mayfair Civils is passionate about sales growth and expanding into new areas. The company has made huge inroads into the Republic of Ireland market in the past year and has completed several projects in the north-west of England. The company’s most significant development has been the undertaking of a large contract in Dublin for the education sector.

Mayfair Civils specialises in all aspects of civil engineering and undertake any work to facilitate a main contractors needs including site preparation, large-scale muck shifts, roads and sewers.

The company employs a commercial manager who manages most the work in England. With 20 years’ experience in his field, he is adept in dealing with customers and is able to facilitate contracts while balancing the needs and wants of the customer with those of Mayfair Civils and its ever-expanding workforce. He is extensively qualified and renowned for his approachable and reasonable attitude as well as his construction experience and knowledge.

In England, Mayfair Civils has worked on luxury homes for Gleeson Homes and is currently carrying out works on luxury homes for Russell Homes in Rainshore Mill. Current projects in Ireland include a new mental health facility at Portrane Road, Donabate for Rhatigan OHL, Almac Pharmaceutical buidling in Dundalk for Heron Bros and student residences in Booterstown, south Dublin for JJ Rhatigan. Mayfair Civils previously completed groundworks for Heron Bros at the Lynas Food Store in Lusk, north Dublin and social housing projects for the EHA Group in Ballymena and Bangor.

The company’s extensive range of plant includes numerous large diggers, dumptrucks, lorries and smaller items which allow for timely and efficient completion of even the most complex and large scale projects.

“We have invested a lot in the past year to keep up with ever growing demands for large scale plant within the Irish construction industry which is not a bad complaint after the economic downturn everyone has come through,” Micheal continues.

All operatives and groundsmen are extensively trained as they have to be compliant with regulations in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK. Mayfair Civils has taken on some young men and trained them internally through all qualifications.

“Mayfair believes in keeping its senior site management ahead of the game with the latest setting out technology to maximise productivity on site and significantly increase accuracy in all aspects of our works,” Micheal says.

Mayfair Civils in-house Health & Safety officer Sarah Rosato states: “Health & Safety is at the forefront of our daily operations.  Due to the high risk nature of our work, employees’ welfare and training must take precedence on a daily basis.

“Over the next year we plan to cement our position in the market by ensuring that that the quality of the workmanship on all of our projects is second to none and that we are seen for our superior management skills, professionalism, integrity and personal management involvement in all of our projects. We will continue to deliver all of our projects on budget, on time, every time and will treat every project with the same level of commitment and attention to detail.”
