The Premier home builders

28 Sep , 2021

Thinking of building your ideal home or looking to extend or renovate your existing dwelling? If so, Butler & Carroll Construction can turn your dream into a reality.

Established in 2017 by Noel Butler and JD (John David) Carroll, the Thurles-based operation has earned an outstanding reputation for constructing beautiful bespoke one-off homes in the Midlands and Mid-West, while also specialising in extensions, renovations, groundworks, roofing and conservation. Noel and JD are second-generation builders who have worked together for over 20 years. Fully insured and certified, they provide a range of services to clients who want to construct a new home or alter, extend or improve the space they live in.

The new homes they build typically range from 2,500 sq. ft. to 3,500 sq. ft in size. Superior workmanship, attention to detail, value-for-money, and a commitment to working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the hallmarks of Butler & Carroll Construction. Health & Safety is at the core of the business, and never more so than in this COVID-19 age. From concept to completion, Noel and John are with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs and that there are no hidden or extra costs involved.

Whether your next project is a new build, extension, or renovation, Butler & Carroll Construction’s one-stop-shop approach will ensure that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable, and hassle-free. The Tipperary contractor’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from satisfied customers.

“We had worked together for 18 years before setting up this business four years ago,” Noel explains.

“We go back a long way, with my late father Danny and JD’s father, John, having worked in the trade before us, building is in our blood. We provide a quality service to clients in Tipperary and the surrounding counties of Offaly, Laois, Kilkenny, Limerick, and Waterford. We’re both very hands-on and are always accessible.

“We have found that the easiest way to do business is to be honest and upfront with customers. We stick to the agreed cost.”

Noel and JD have put together a small, but dedicated and experienced team to cater for all your building needs.

“We employ five staff directly who are a mix of block-layers, roofers and groundworks personnel. We have our own diggers and dumpers for the groundworks. We sub-contract the plastering, drylining, electrical and plumbing to the same tried and trusted tradesmen. By employing highly-skilled people, working closely with our architects and designers, and using only the very best building products, we’re able to deliver the highest quality construction to our clients,” John says.

Butler & Carroll Construction has completed numerous one-off new house builds, the most recent of which was a 2,500 sq. ft. Georgian-style home in Loughmore, while also keeping smaller jobs on the go at the same time.

“We have built many houses in the Thurles area, including Two-Mile-Borris, Loughmore, as well as Ardmayle and Ballycahill,” John proudly states.

“We completed a ghost estate in Templemore (Carden’s Court) consisting of 25 houses in 2017, which was a good start for us, and have also completed many housing adaptation projects for older people or people with a disability which are funded by local county council grants.

“Furthermore, we can help with self-build projects by catering for the groundworks or roofing. We have a maintenance contract for Dovea House, which is a listed building in Thurles and is home to Dovea Genetics. We also do maintenance work for MESD Ventures who are a Turkish-owned residential development company.”

The COVID crisis, and the delays it has caused to building projects, has led to an increase in residential property prices across the country as supply struggles to meet demand. To compound matters, the cost of building materials sky-rocketed during the pandemic and this is being acutely felt in the new build sector.

“New homes are becoming more unaffordable for young people. There are many different things conspiring against them at the moment. Unfortunately, Brexit and COVID contribute to this, percentages on materials across the board have increased.”

Committed to quality construction, Noel and JD would like to take this opportunity to thank their clients, suppliers, sub-contractors and design teams for their continued support. For more information and examples of their work, check them out on Facebook or Instagram.
