The innovative waterproofing and insulation specialists

8 Jan , 2019

How a building is used and constructed are key factors in the selection of the correct waterproofing system – the options are as varied as the requirements and all must meet current regulations that are in place.

Moy Materials Ltd have the perfect solution for every situation, whether the membrane coverings are bituminous-based, synthetic or resinous, whether the insulation is PIR, EPS or mineral wool, and whether you want to add a simple green roof, the most complex recreational facility or photovoltaic arrays atop your roof.

They provide clients with waterproofing membranes and insulation to make buildings watertight and thermally efficient, photovoltaic installations for renewable energy generation, and green roofs to support the environment and create better living and working spaces for people. Customers choose them because of the way in which they do business, the way they treat every project individually and how they work alongside clients to deliver the best solution for a building.

The service the customer receives from Moy Materials Ltd is a reflection of their many years’ experience in the waterproofing industry and the decades of working daily on roofs, understanding the issues, the challenges of water ingress and how they impact the building.

Director Norman Stenhouse has been with the company since 1979, a year after the business was established. In the mid-eighties Pat Farrell joined the company and in 1992, the two men bought out the business and put their own stamp on the company going forward.

Since then, they have become one of the UK and Ireland’s leading suppliers of high performance flat roof waterproofing systems for the roofing industry.

Headquartered in Dublin, Moy Materials Ltd also have bases in London and Glasgow to help compliment the work that they carry out in the U.K and Europe.

Their innovative, long-lasting waterproofing solutions and unparalleled technical support have earned them a raft of high profile clients, and a place at the forefront of this dynamic and competitive industry.

“Our work centres mainly on the commercial and industrial sectors and we have developed a reputation for providing a high quality service to our customers over the years,” Norman told Building Ireland.

“The majority of our client base would consist of surveyors, architects, engineers and roofing contractors, many of who would be trained by ourselves to install our products.”

Moy Materials use nothing but the best of suppliers for their products which are generally sourced through key producers in Europe.

“Our products are sourced from leading manufacturers across Europe. We have a long term working relationship with the likes of Italian based Imper, who manufacture the well-known Paralon brand.

“We now would have more employees working in the U.K then here in Ireland. Ten years ago, we acquired a company in Glasgow and that helped us get our name out in the U.K. We are fortunate to be very busy over there at the moment and are continuing to rapidly expand.”

Moy Materials have focused on the upskilling of operatives from across the UK and Ireland to ensure the highest level of workmanship using their Enkopur liquid waterproofing products. With continued growth across the construction industry across various market sectors, many roofing companies are focusing on the upskilling and development of their staff particularly in areas of liquid waterproofing, a fast-growing technology in the roofing industry.

Norman added that they place a huge emphasis on training whether it be their own employees or the contractors that install their products.

“We celebrated a landmark training of over 500 liquid waterproofing operatives in conjunction with their partners Enke-Werk in little over four years.”

Norman stressed that there is a massive emphasis placed on investment and ensuring that customer satisfaction is maintained.

“As part of our commitment to quality and service, we retain close contact with all our clients – from the design and specification stages, right through to project completion and beyond.”

The company is focused on designing and producing innovative and cost efficient roofing, thermal and acoustic systems. Their flexibility is to their customers’ advantage as they have the most appropriate system for each application.

Moy Materials continue to grow without sacrificing its personal touch, which is a vital requirement for maintaining flexibility and creativity.  Under the guidance of the company’s directors, Moy Materials has established itself as a leader in the development of innovative waterproofing products and roofing systems.

They strive to deliver market-leading waterproofing and insulation systems supported by technical expertise and service throughout the supply chain.  From project conception through to completion, Moy Materials Ltd offer industry leading technical support.

The company have recently acquired the trading business of Colas Building Products and their plan going forward is to take these brands into the UK and European markets in particular the single ply Protan PVC range, which is a highly respected manufacturer based in Norway and whose focus is also strongly on contractor training and site support. The well-established Moy brand has helped secure large contracts with leading clients in the pharmaceutical, IT and data centre space across Europe including Holland, Belgium and Denmark.

“The future is looking extremely positive, our business is continuing to expand in all markets with our well–known industry partners continuing to innovate and deliver high quality products suitable for our waterproofing systems. “We work closely with FM Global who insure many of the top American multinational corporations. Moy have invested heavily into obtaining FM Approvals for several of their waterproofing systems.”

With the continued expansion of Moy Materials Ltd the company is engaging in a major rebrand to be launched in the Autumn ahead of their 40 year anniversary in 2019.
