Smoke Management Systems Ltd is a wholly Irish company founded in 2004. Started from humble beginnings, they are specialists when it comes to Daylight Systems, Smoke & Fire Curtains, Smoke Ventilation, Maintenance, Actuators and Controls.

It’s fair to say that Smoke Management Systems Ltd must be doing something right because they now include Irish construction industry household names such as Walls, Cosgrave Developments, Sisk, John Paul, BAM and Bennetts among their valued list of loyal clients.

Smoke Management Systems is a turnkey provider for Smoke and Natural Ventilation products together with their Daylight division providing the source of natural daylight through facades and roof structures.

Their Servicing & Maintenance division ensures all equipment is fully operational if required to operate.

“I had worked in the industry for 14 years before setting up the company,” explained Managing Director Paul Browne when asked to trace the roots of the ever burgeoning concern.

“I spotted a niche in the maintenance end of the market and we concentrated on that initially. The company has grown organically since into supplying equipment and taking on contracts. We started out with just two us, myself and my brother Eoin, and the company now has a workforce of 20 highly skilled and dedicated employees.”

The company’s mission statement is as follows: ‘At Smoke Management Systems we strive to maintain the highest possible standards, with the most economical solution.

We achieve this by utilising the latest technologies, combined with our unrivalled competence, ensuring our customers receive high quality products & service’.

Their portfolio of successfully completed projects includes The National Gallery of Ireland, The National Indoor Arena and Cork Prison, to name but a few. With a combined experience of over 60 years, the SMS team can assist with your particular project.

“We also do a lot of student accommodation work,” Paul added.

Due to highly qualified staff, the SMS team are extremely flexible and can offer services which can be tailored to meet your exact requirements such as: Out of hours PPM; 24-7/365 maintenance approach; 24 hour manned phones; emergency call-outs and repair/refurbishment of parts if necessary.

SMS Maintenance is recognised as Ireland’s leading maintenance service provider for smoke and heat ventilation systems of all kinds. Fully operational smoke ventilation systems are critical to ensure protection against loss of life and building damage in the vent of fire in addition to ensuring regulatory and insurance compliance.

SMS Maintenance’s aim is simple – to provide expert, on time, professional and competitive maintenance services to ensure peace of mind for their customers.

They achieve this through advanced scheduling of maintenance visits to minimise disruption. It means provision of necessary health & safety documentation before works commence. It means prompt, detailed compliance documentation and service reports are issued to their customers.

With a countrywide service coverage, SMS Maintenance provide responsive planned service visits for statutory maintenance requirements as well as comprehensive 24/7 round the clock reactive and emergency cover.

“Our service engineers have many years of experience and our policy where possible is to assign the same engineer for every visit. This ensures continuity of service and knowledge of the site and equipment.”

Quality products and competitive pricing complete with a successful record for completing projects on time and to budget have enhanced Smoke Management System’s  standing in the industry and Paul is eager to continue to add to that by maintaining the highest standards and service levels.

“We take great pride in the quality of service we provide. We deliver a turnkey service – from design to supply to installation to commission, certification and guarantee. And back around then to maintenance.”

Smoke Management Systems  has come a long way since its inception 16 years ago and Paul has no intention of resting on his laurels. He revealed that there are ambitious expansion plans in the pipeline for the company.

“We are growing and we are hoping to enter the UK market in the months ahead. We are currently carrying out a feasibility on a small project over there at the moment and we’d be hopeful of replicating similar growth over in the UK in the next couple of years.”
