Servicing your building needs

15 Feb , 2017

The building trade is currently experiencing a swell in work and this has a knock on effect for all involved. One area which certainly has benefitted is builder providers.

For this edition of Building Ireland, we will take a look at one of the country’s leading building providers, C&D Providers.

Headquartered in Larkin’s Cross, Co Wexford, the business has been established for 40 years now and the experience gained over that time has been invaluable to their success.

Now known as Wexford’s leading building provider, they have the ability to service a large customer base with any material or product used in the trade.

C&D Providers Ltd is part of the HPC Group(Home Project Centre). The branches are C&D Providers; C&D Home and Hardware; Arklow Building Supplies; PH Ross Cabra; TJ O’Mahonys in Ballymount, Kilshane Cross, Glasnevin Co Dublin, Gort and Oranmore Co Galway, Cahir Co Tipperary; Commons Hardware in Navan  Co Meath; and McCarthy Prosperous Co Kildare. In every branch the customer will always have the right product for their job at hand.

Neil Roche has been with the company for 14-years and manager of the Larkin’s Cross branch for the past three. Who better to fill us in on what sets them above their rivals?

“We are predominately a Builders Providers supplying our large customer base with everything from Timber, Roofing, Bricks and Insulation to Bathrooms, Doors and Floors,” said Neil.

C&D Providers services also include a Home & Garden Centre. They also have an exclusive range of Home & Garden Furniture and Equipment for all seasons.

Four years ago, the management team successfully acquired the business and certain assets of the group.

The transaction secured the future of the group’s Builder Provider/DIY stores, which employ 170 people, mainly in Leinster.

The management team which is headed by managing director Sean Moran, took full ownership of the business.

“This helped the group become established as a major competitor in the sector and has helped us grow as an independent Irish DIY chain,” explained Neil.

The new company, is now known as Home Project Centre Limited but the retail chain continues to operate as normal under their existing trading names.

“Like most businesses involved in the building trade, we were hit hard by the recession, but given the amount of experience that we have gathered over the years, we managed to come through it and the future looks very bright indeed.

“As I stated we cater for everyone whether it be a building contractor or someone doing a bit of DIY work, our friendly and efficient staff will deal with all enquiries and help out the customer as best as possible.”

Customer care is an integral part of the business and given the level of service provided, C&D Providers can call on some long term customers amongst their clients.

“A large percentage of our customers would be coming into us for many years; we are delighted to be able to provide them with a top level service and that is something that we aim to continue doing.

“We stock all the leading brands of materials and products, all of which can be got at reasonable prices, while we would do special offers on a regular basis.

“We have gone through the recession with our customers and know what they have gone through, so we are there to help in any way that we can.”

If a customer is building, renovating, extending or making some home improvements C&D Providers promise to make their task that little bit easier as they can offer expert advice on what products or materials would best suit the customers’ needs.

“We are part of the Allied Buying Group and this gives us a bigger buying strength in that we can get the best of products at the best prices available.”

C&D Providers have three trucks on the road ensure that customers get their purchases on time as they know the importance of not holding a job up.

“We have three trucks doing deliveries and most of our customer base would be in Wexford and the surrounding counties, so we endeavour to reach them as quickly as possible.”
