Portview named the perfect fit for workplace wellbeing

3 Jul , 2018

Fit-out specialist, Portview, has been named as one of the best employers in Northern Ireland for workplace wellbeing in this year’s Irish News Workplace and Employment Awards.

Taking place on Thursday 14th June, the awards recognise companies that champion resilience, team-building and positivity in the workplace. Now in its 12th year, a record-breaking 620 guests attended the black-tie event, making it one of the most prized events on the corporate calendar in Northern Ireland.

Praised for their Live Better Feel Better campaign, Portview took the workplace wellbeing honours in the medium size category, with judges applauding their commitment to supporting the welfare of employees and the positive impact it’s had on the company.

Managing Director of Portview, Simon Campbell said:

“By its very nature, the fit-out industry is fast-paced and demanding, so we work very hard to ensure our employees feel valued and happy in their roles by striking a healthy work-life balance.

“Our Live Better Feel Better campaign was born out of feedback from employees who wanted an initiative that proactively raised awareness about common health concerns and offered simple, effective solutions to address them. This was achieved through a variety of practical workshops, seminars and training events that are designed to be engaging and informative.”

With people in the construction industry twice as likely to suffer from a mental illness, one key area of focus for Portview was to encourage employees to talk openly about mental health and support those who need it.

Simon Campbell continued: “We really wanted to dissolve the stigma that surrounds mental illness, so we signed the “Time to Change” pledge to publicly demonstrate our commitment to supporting mental well-being. We have invested heavily in this area by rolling-out mental health first-aid training for managers and employees; partnering with the mental health charity Mates in Mind; and organising a series of activities including health checks, exercise classes, stress awareness seminars, and nutrition talks.

“Our employees know that we genuinely care for their welfare, and because of this, they feel happier and healthier. This has had a substantial impact on the company’s performance, with increased levels of productivity, staff engagement and morale.

“We wouldn’t be where we are today without the dedication of our employees, so we’re very proud to receive this award in recognition of our efforts to give something back to them. Through our example, we hope this will inspire other companies to adopt a collaborative, comprehensive approach when it comes to workplace wellbeing.”
