25 Oct , 2019

Award ceremonies are generally considered as a night out to socialise, which in effect is true, but for those nominated, it is far more than that as it is recognition of the hard work they have been doing.

This year, P.B.C Ltd celebrates its 40th anniversary and over the years with the experience this Limerick based company has gathered, they can provide a service that is rivalled by few.

Not only that but their dedication to ensure that their employees and associates work in a safe environment has been recognised at this year’s Irish Construction Industry awards following their nomination in the category of Excellence in Health & Safety.

Quality and Procurement manager Kevin Madden spoke to Building Ireland about what it means to be nominated for a prestigious award, while he also revealed the company’s passion for health and safety runs right through the company from the top to the bottom.

“Health and Safety is a priority within the company from the directors right through all levels, everybody is on the same wavelength and that is to ensure that everyone goes home from work safely,” said Kevin.

P.B.C Ltd have an external health and safety consultant that comes into the company and ensures everything is in place while also informing them of any changes to legislation or regulations that may be made.

“Any new employees go through an induction course and basically they learn what the company ethos is with regards to health and safety, so from as soon as they start with us, they know what we expect of them in that respect.”

The fact that P.B.C Ltd were the first Limerick construction firm to be accredited the Safe-T cert is a testament to their dedication in this area.

“I think it proves how serious we take health and safety and that is why we were delighted to be nominated for the Excellence in Health and Safety category.”

Kevin revealed that it was a complex procedure once the wheels of the nomination were set in motion. “We saw that there was a health and safety category and we wanted to go for it.

“We had to put a report together, detailing the company’s background, as well as revealing our training matrix and the work we have done in H&S.

“This was all submitted to the ICI then and we were informed that we had made the shortlist for the awards night, which we were obviously thrilled with.”

P.B.C Ltd carries out work in the construction services, property maintenance and fit-outs sectors which has seen them build an extensive client base over their forty years in business.

Originally founded by Pat Burke in 1979, the company is today run by his sons Patrick and David with the support of an experienced team of employees.

P.B.C.’s maintenance service has always supported their clients and it’s something which has helped to guarantee the company repeat business more and more.

The company carry out all the maintenance work for LIDL in the Munster region and Kevin revealed that this is one of their biggest contracts.

“We have a number of big contracts with LIDL being amongst them. Limerick IT would also be another big maintenance contract for us, but our focus is not just on maintenance work as construction and fit-outs would take up a large part of the business also.

The team at P.B.C Ltd has a wealth of experience in virtually all types of new construction, from initial planning through to completion. The company has high quality professionals committed to providing outstanding client service.

They understand that constructing a new home or residential property is an important step for any client and ensures to provide the proper support to make it a pleasant experience.

P.B.C. Ltd’s experience encompasses a great number of projects ranging from the construction of terraced houses, reconstruction and refurbishment of listed buildings, apartments mixed with commercial units, luxury penthouses and individual residences and highly complex refurbishment projects.

P.B.C. Ltd prides itself on the discrete manner in which they carry out our work. Of course having reached the remarkable milestone of being 40 years in business will not go unnoticed as there are plans to celebrate their anniversary later in the year.
