Keeping customers cool for 35 years

26 Feb , 2019

Celebrating 35 years in business, Frescold Services Ltd specialises in the supply and maintenance of Mitsubishi air conditioning units and systems and in the repair and maintenance of all air conditioning and refrigeration systems. The company prides itself on its excellent service and competitive rates.

Frescold Services Ltd was founded in Waterford in 1983 by Tom Blount and has since built up a large and loyal customer-base throughout the South-East and beyond. The company has been an approved business solutions partner for Mitsubishi Electric for almost 30 years and is also an agent for Parameter stability control generators.

“We’ve grown exponentially over the years and have earned an enviable reputation for supplying and maintaining air conditioning and refrigeration systems. When I first started out, it was all refrigeration-related work, but it has since been outgrown by the air conditioning side of things which now accounts for about 80 per cent of our business,” explains Tom.

“We have a top-class team who will cater for all of your supply and maintenance needs. We have 10 staff in total, including service / technical manager Joe Power and installation manager Peter Mulvany. We indirectly employ others by sub-contracting out our ventilation work.

“I would put our longevity down to our excellent service and the strong relationships which we have built up with our customers. We’re here 24/7 for them and will tend to whatever requirements they have. We have five mobile units covering the South-East and a team of people who are professional, efficient, experienced and friendly.”

Strategically located in Six Cross Roads Business Park on the outskirts of Waterford city, Frescold Services Ltd offers air conditioning and refrigeration solutions to domestic and commercial clients primarily in counties Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, Kilkenny, Carlow, Tipperary and Laois, but also nationwide. The company provides a complete service, including air conditioning and refrigeration contracting, heat pumps, low temperature rooms, chill rooms, ice machines, chilled water plants, blast freezers, blast chills and computer room air conditioning.

The contractor can offer a customised design service based on recommended air conditioning requirements for your home, office or factory. This service can include a full building survey to determine the heat gain from the external environment and relevant internal heat sources. Frescold Services Ltd takes account of the heat load from the external factors and from internal occupancy, including lights, computers, copiers, dishwashers and ovens in its heat load calculations.

The company recommends discreet air conditioning systems with low noise levels. Mitsubishi’s mini-split (or ductless) technology is ideal for situations when low energy usage is important with little visual or noise impact for your home, office, factory or shop.

For domestic settings, Frescold Services can recommend ideal air conditioning solutions for your whole house or individual rooms. Upstairs locations can often be excessively hot in the summer months due to high solar gain from the roof and Tom and his team can design ideal air conditioning unit installations to solve such problems.

Frescold Services Ltd’s commercial air conditioning systems include the Mitsubishi City multi-systems and water condensing units. It can design air conditioning systems, including indoor concealed ducted units with blow ceiling-mounted cassettes and wall-mounted units. Each indoor unit is provided with its own individual controller, allowing heating or cooling as well as selection target temperature and fan speed. The company also supplies and installs master controllers giving access groups of indoor units. Each master controller gives group control and timer facilities over a group of indoor units.

Mitsubishi air conditioning products installed by Frescold Services Ltd have resulted in huge savings for customers. They are designed to help you use your air conditioning systems more efficiently. The need for control is paramount in order to optimise the performance of any air conditioning system and minimise its running costs. When a system is not properly controlled, it will not run as efficiently as it should. Even one-degree deviation from the required temperature can result in up to 5% increased energy costs.

Frescold Services Ltd also installs stability rooms and humidity and temperature controllers. Stability rooms provide a stable, humidity and temperature-controlled environment designed with a control system that is simple to use and guarantees constancy of operation. Furthermore, the company installs Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan heat pump boilers which are one of the most advanced and efficient systems on the market. They reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50%, offer a 30% saving on running costs and are eligible for a Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) Greener Homes Scheme grant of €2,000.

A member of the Irish Refrigeration Institute, Frescold Services Ltd complies fully with all regulations and best practices laid down by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Waterford University Hospital, WIT, Waterford Crystal, Eurofins Scientific (Dungarvan), Atlantis Seafoods (Wexford), Store-All Warehousing (Belview), Smartply Europe, Glanbia, Mount Juliet Hotel (Kilkenny), Hotel Minella (Clonmel) and Clonmel Healthcare are just some of the contractor’s regular clients.

Recently completed projects include TV3 office extension (full fit-out of air conditioning and ventilation systems), Mount Juliet Hotel 100-bed extension (complete fit-out of air conditioning and heat pump system), Sun Life Financial office extension (complete installation of air conditioning and ventilation systems), Clonmel Healthcare (temperature control warehouse storage) and Store-All Warehousing (temperature control warehouse storage). David Flynn Ltd was the main contractor on the Mount Juliet Hotel extension and Frescold Services Ltd continues to work alongside the well-known building firm on new Insomnia coffee shops which are being developed across the country.

One of Frescold Services Ltd’s current projects involves the installation of new chill rooms, blast chill rooms and a new blast freezer room for the aforementioned Atlantis Seafoods.
