John Frazer Building Contractor celebrates 25 years

9 Apr , 2021

The phrase ‘small is beautiful’ could apply to Portlaoise-based John Frazer Building Contractor which puts quality before quantity when it comes to new one-off house builds, extensions and renovations.

If you’re thinking of building your dream home or maybe extending or renovating your current home, then look no further than John Frazer Building Contractor which is one of the leading contractors of its kind in the midlands.

Celebrating 25 years in business, the family-run business specialises in building top quality new homes and extensions. Other services provided include attic conversions, plastering, groundworks on new projects, insurance claims, roofing and renovations. The contractor’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within budget is borne out by the amount of repeat business and referrals it receives from satisfied clients.

John Frazer has over 30 years’ experience as a builder. He served his time as a master plasterer before taking over his late father John Snr’s business, John Frazer Plastering Contractors, and progressed from there to become a building contractor. Over the past quarter-of-a-century, he has worked with some of the leading architects in Leinster to deliver the highest quality construction to his clients.

Exceptional workmanship, attention to detail, value-for-money and a commitment to working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the hallmarks of John Frazer Building Contractor. Health & Safety is at the core of the business, and never more so than in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. From concept to completion, John is with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new home is designed and built to your specific needs, and that there are no hidden or extra costs involved.

“We’re well-known and well-respected in the midlands,” he says.

“We’re based in Portlaoise and serve Laois as well as the surrounding counties of Offaly, Carlow and Kildare. As specialists in one-off residential house builds, we offer a full service from groundworks to plastering to roofing. Our workmanship is top quality and only the very best of materials go into every house we build. We don’t cut corners and never finish a job without ensuring that everything is clean and tidy. We take great pride in every aspect of what we do.”

John spends all of his time onsite making sure everything is done correctly.

“I’m a very hands-on person and am always onsite. That way I know the job is being done right and that I’m on top of everything,” he explains.

The affable builder employs a small team of block-layers, plasterers and labourers, and uses the same tried and trusted sub-contractors. He is happy to keep his business the size it is as he believes going bigger would compromise the quality of his work.

“I’ve had opportunities in the past to buy and develop sites, but I prefer to keep things small. That way you can make sure that things don’t get out of control, there’s less hassle and there’s probably more money in it as well,” he continues.

“We have four or five lads working directly for us and we’re very lucky to have them because good tradesmen are scarce at the moment. We all get along and work well as a team.

“We build upwards of three one-off houses a year and also do a lot of extensions and renovation jobs. We’re never short of work with most of it being secured through word of mouth or referrals from the architects and engineers we collaborate with and have a very good working relationship with.”

The COVID-19 crisis has proved challenging for all builders, including John who ensures that his team follows all the relevant Health & Safety guidelines and takes all the necessary precautions at all times.

John would like to take this opportunity to thank his clients for their continued support and his staff for their skill, hard work and dedication. Here’s to the next 25 years of this highly-regarded building contractor! Call today for a free quotation.
