Grants Electrical – leading the way in the North-West

5 Jan , 2018

Grants Services Ltd is a leading registered electrical contracting firm based in Buncrana, Co. Donegal offering an experienced, skilled, responsive, reliable and competitive service delivered on time and within budget.

Celebrating 10 years as a limited company, the business was established in 2001 by brothers Stephen and Damien Grant. It has grown to employ nine electricians and has an ever-expanding customer-base on both sides of the border. For this purpose, it is both a Safe Electric (Republic of Ireland) and NICEIC (Northern Ireland) registered contractor.

Specialising in industrial, domestic and commercial electrical contracting, Grants Electrical Services guarantees a high-quality service and dedicated customer care at costs you can afford. The company works closely with its clients to understand their needs and can tailor its methods and service to suit your requirements. Grants Electrical Services is committed to helping the client achieve their goals and solve their problems.

With a skilled and versatile team of professionals, the Inishowen contractor offers a wealth of industry experience and expertise, is equipped to take on contracts of all sizes, and boasts an impressive portfolio of work. Grants Electrical Services delivers results you can depend on and advice you can trust. Commitment, care and consultation are the hallmarks of everything it does.

The company prides itself on its quality, attention to detail and value-for-money service and strives to promote best practice in Health & Safety at all times.  Many of the staff engage in constant upskilling to keep abreast of all the latest developments within the industry.

“We operated as sole traders for six years before becoming a limited company in 2007. During the recession, we were down to three staff and had to keep our costs as low as possible in order to stay afloat. Thankfully, things have picked up in the last couple of years and we’ve a number of jobs on at the moment. While most of our work is concentrated in Donegal and the North-West, we can provide a nationwide service. With five vans on the road, we will go wherever the work takes us,” Stephen explains.

The firm works in all areas of the electrical industry, catering for everything from burglar alarm and CCTV systems installation to access control and computer networking. It has completed a diverse range of projects in both private and public sectors. One of its current contracts involves the design and installation of the administration building for Ireland’s largest windfarm at Meenadreen near Donegal town. The 95MW Energia windfarm contains 38 turbines and is capable of producing enough electricity to power 50,000 homes. Energia Renewables has invested a whopping €145 million in developing the windfarm.

Grants Electrical Services Ltd is also currently working on the upgrade of eir’s Galway District Headquarters in Mervue and social housing schemes in both Inishowen and Letterkenny for Donegal County Council. HML Plant Hire and Crana Cranes & Construction, who are also based in Buncrana, are the main building contractors on the eir and social housing projects respectively, while Denis Moriarty is the main civil contractor to the Meenadreen wind farm.

Recently completed contracts include the Donegal Physiotherapy & Performance Centre in Letterkenny, Muff and St. Boden’s, Culdaff National Schools in Co. Donegal, Royal and Prior Comprehensive School in Raphoe, Dillon’s Hotel in Letterkenny, Killybegs Community Hospital and Wafer Enterprises in Derry.

“We completed the full electrical package for the Donegal Physiotherapy & Performance Centre earlier this year,” Stephen says.

“We also carried out the upgrade of the fire alarm system in Muff National School and rewired St. Boden’s National School and the three-storey carpark at Dillon’s Hotel. In addition, we carried out the electrical upgrade and fitted fire doors and alarms at Killybegs Community Hospital, undertook the electrical installation on a major extension at Royal and Prior Comprehensive School and looked after the design and installation of offices and storage area at the Wafer factory in Derry.”

He adds: “We offer a top-class service and installation standards. Our ability to complete projects on time, within budget and to the client’s total satisfaction has made us the contractor of choice for over 15 years. As well as our clients, we work closely with engineering consultants, architects and main contractors to ensure that every job is completed successfully.

“We enjoy excellent relationships with all of our clients, many of who use our services on a regular basis. If there’s something we can’t do ourselves, we’ll get some other reputable contractor to do it for us. Every job we undertake is done right at the first time of asking. We don’t cut any corners.”

Stephen and Damien Grant would like to take this opportunity to thank their customers for their continued support and loyalty.
