Experience is the key for Robert Quinn Ltd

13 Jun , 2017

A commonly known fact is that family run businesses that have experience behind them seem to do better than most other companies in Ireland.

This is illustrated throughout this country with the majority of businesses that have been operating for many decades being family owned or run.

Employers and clients entrust in the experienced, proven and reputable contractors. This is one of the reasons that Carlow based Robert Quinn Ltd has been so successful down through the years.

Established by Robert in 1973, the company went limited in 1983. From its genesis 44 years ago, it has become one in the same with quality workmanship and customer satisfaction in the construction industry.

Their reputation for delivering on time and within budget has aligned the company with such reputable firms as Glanbia, Bank of Ireland, McDonalds Restaurants, Aldi Stores and the Department of Education to name just a few.

Robert Quinn Ltd have successfully completed numerous new build and refurbishment works in the following sectors; healthcare, hospitality, commercial, pharmaceutical, medical, religious, residential, educational and retail. In addition, the company has carried out many civils and facility management contracts since its inception. It is apparent that their experienced team are equipped to deal with any project and in turn any issue.

These days Robert has handed over the day to day running of the business to his son Michael whose own experience has allowed him to progress through the company to a management position.

“It is very much a family business with the main focus being to provide customer satisfaction on every project that we work on,” said Michael.

“We have worked with many different design teams and clients over the years and in many cases have completed repeat projects with the same design team and client. Their loyalty is testament to the standard of work and accountability of Robert Quinn Ltd staff.”

“The workload has certainly increased over the past two years or so. During the recession, we were fortunate to be successful with some major contracts that kept us going throughout that period. These projects certainly made a huge difference to the company during a testing period for the industry.

The order book is looking good for the remainder of the year and the big difference is that you can plan ahead now more than you could in the last few years.”

The company employs 20 people most of who are management while a number of sub-contractors are used to help fulfil contracts.

“The majority of the employees have been with Robert Quinn Ltd now for many years and there is good continuity within the company. We also maintain strong relationships with all our sub-contractors and suppliers who have remained loyal to us over the years.”

Robert Quinn Ltd prides itself on perfecting their level of standards and currently is accredited to ISO 9001 Quality and ISO 14001 Environmental Systems. Robert Quinn Ltd is one of a select few contractors in the country to hold an “A” grade Safe-T Certificate for safety.

“The company understands the importance for such accreditation when working for multinational companies who demand such qualifications. The constant auditing of the quality, environmental and safety systems ensures that the company operates at its safest and most efficient, thus ultimately benefitting the client.”

As well as acting as the main building contractor, Robert Quinn Ltd can also offer the role of PSCS (Project Supervisor for the Construction Stage).

“Our company is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of the delivery of the Works we undertake. Our ability to perform to the highest standards is founded on the ability to source, attract and utilize resources of the highest calibre. This approach is exemplified by the retention level of staff of the highest professional integrity/ability and the acquisition and maintenance of top quality plant resources.”

The future is optimistic for this ever-growing company and Michael revealed that cautious but deliberate expansion was the way forward for them combined with a well-developed management structure.

“We are rightly proud of our levels of repeat business while seeking out new clients as partners with whom we can establish strong trading relationships with. We want to expand in a controlled environment and continue to deliver on the high standard of work that our clients have come to expect of us.”
