Duke McCaffrey construction consultants: the perfect match

27 Feb , 2020

Duke McCaffrey Construction Consultants is a vibrant and forward-thinking multi-disciplinary construction consultancy providing professional services throughout Ireland.

The Dublin and Belfast based company has extensive experience across virtually every industry sector, giving them a depth and breadth of knowledge essential to assure accuracy and efficiency in the service they deliver.

Their core specialist services are Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Principal Designer and Project Monitoring

Their philosophy, implemented by a team of high calibre individuals, is to ‘add value’ and create value for their clients at all stages of their involvement in each project.

As a multi-disciplinary construction consultancy, the firm works with world-class businesses and investors on built-environment projects, they are client-focused with the recognised experience, knowledge base, expertise and track record to tackle projects irrespective of complexity from a position of strength.

Established four years ago by Kevin Duke and Joe McCaffrey, the company focuses on ensuring clients of all sizes and complexities that they extract value from the money they spend.

Speaking to Building Ireland, Joe said: “We have an outstanding track record of successful built-environment projects, across many sectors, but our main area of expertise is in corporate work where we have an impressive client list that includes Dalata Hotels, Dunnes Stores, Friends First, AIB, Deloitte, and data centre developers”

Their ethos is fundamentally underpinned by a personable and transparent client-focussed service and validated by a reputation for technical expertise and reliability.

“In undertaking projects we will at all times do our best to provide effective solutions to meet specific clients’ needs and deliver client satisfaction of the highest level. Our clients like our deep sense of ownership and our rigorous attention to detail throughout the project.”

Duke McCaffrey Construction Consultants are continuously developing their existing sectors and growing a portfolio of satisfied clients thanks to an outstanding industry reputation and an emphasis on building close working relations with clients and stakeholders.

“Our philosophy is simple. We believe that project success comes from inspiring confidence in our clients and getting the best from those with whom we work, facilitating success by managing people, systems and processes.”

The company’s success is largely based on the experience that the team and in particular Kevin and Joe bring to every project.

“Kevin would have 25 years’ experience in large scale projects, while my specialist area would be M&E. Together along with a very experienced and hardworking team, we offer our clients a proper service unlike some of the large scale firms and our clients appreciate that.”

The company’s workload now stretches beyond these shores as they are actively seeking and obtaining more work in the U.K to such an extent that plans to open an office over there are in the pipeline. However, working across the Irish Sea brings about a degree of uncertainty at the moment, given the contentious nature of Brexit.

“A number of our clients have asked us to do work for them in the U.K and we are busy over there now. Brexit is certainly a concern from a QS point of view as there are a number of questions to be answered like will there be charges and tariffs? How will UK firms interact? And so on. There is currently a lot of uncertainty in the market.”

As a purely independent firm, Joe revealed that they were keen to expand their services even further across the globe.

“We have a presence in the U.K market, but we would like to do the same in Europe and the U.S. We believe that we have the experience to be able to grow with our clients over the coming years.

Duke McCaffrey places a great emphasis on driving value into projects and let clients know that they are there to do their best for them.

“We are experiencing solid growth since we first started. It is hard to know if Dublin will sustain its current workload. A lot of projects are being funded from outside Ireland, so there is not as much reliance on the banks here.

“Like I said though, our aim is to grow beyond the country and we feel that we have the tools and the personnel to do so.”

The ability to change with the times and adapt to their clients’ needs has proven to be a successful attitude for Duke McCaffrey to bring to their work.

“We anticipate significant change in the manner clients wish to deliver projects in the future moving away from traditional approaches and delivering more global practices including implementing key performance indicators and technology driven strategies into projects.

“We have been listening closely to our clients and we developed unique service offerings including mixture of traditional and new approaches to our service offering always remaining true to our core values of being independent, flexible and focussed.”
