‘Breaking new ground’ – Ireland’s leader in rockbreaking equipment

16 Jan , 2018

Rockbreakers are Ireland’s leading independent dealers of rock breakers and hydraulic equipment.

They specialise in sales, hire and repairs of hydraulic breakers and demolition equipment from quality manufactures including  Atlas Copco, kinsofer, Darda, Fasterverdini, and Chicago Pneumatic.

With over 25 years experience, Rockbreakers provide a first class after-sales and repair service.

Having learned the tricks of the trade from a young age, Managing Director Niall O’Brien took over the reins of the company from his father Donal back in 2010.

Based on the outskirts of Dublin in Ashbourne, Co Meath since 1989, last year they moved into a new state-of-the-art premises which includes a fully equipped workshop which specially adapted for repair of rock breakers and hydraulic attachments.

“We needed more space and a bigger yard for bigger hammers plus we wanted to get a more up-to-date workshop,” Niall informed Building Ireland.

“We moved in last September and it has been great from an operational point of view. It means we have been able to get hammers done quicker and can handle more of the bigger hammers at the one time. We do a lot of work, for instance, with 10 tonne hammers.”

As an authorised distributor for Atlas Copco hammers since 2003, when you contact Rockbreakers you can expect a selection of top equipment from a brand you know and trust. Atlas Copco is committed to providing range topping quality equipment at affordable prices.

Niall and his team of 15 employees supply new equipment direct from the Atlas Copco factory floor and are ready to break new ground for you.

Their used equipment centre is well stocked with a selection of well maintained high-quality equipment certified by Atlas Copco trained personnel, according to a standard inspection program.

As nobody can take better care of Atlas Copco equipment than a fully authorised Atlas Copco service centre, becoming a second owner straight from Rockbreakers  is your best guarantee for piece of mind, fully supported by a world class service organisation.

All used equipment has been examined by their experienced professional technicians, and repaired or reconditioned where necessary.

“Atlas Copco is renowned as the number one brand when it comes to the hydraulic hammer market,” Niall pointed out. “They are a well known brand that supply the most powerful and reliable hammers in the industry and if anyone is doing serious work then they would never really look past Atlas Copco.

“We are proud of the fact that we provide the best products that are available on the market and also take pride in the wealth of knowledge and experience that we, as a company, have in the sector. No other company supplying hydraulic hammers in this country can claim to be more knowledgable than us – we’re the longest running in the country.”

Rockbreakers’  hire fleet, meanwhile, offers an additional service to all of their customers through their dedicated  Hire  Centre.

If you have a bottleneck in your equipment inventory, or are in need of specialised equipment, they have a wide-range of equipment available for both short-term and long-term hire.

The are constantly reviewing the equipment that they hold in their fleet and are working closely with the industry’s major manufacturers to ensure standards are not only met, but exceeded. They have hammers and attachments to suit most weight categories.

“We’re actually expanding our hire fleet at the moment and replacing all existing hammers with Atlas Copco. Three new hammers arrived for our hire fleet this week and we aim to continue to steadily grow our hire fleet.”

Rockbreakers has experienced ups and downs like every company plying its trade in the construction industry in recent years but, at this point in time, Niall revealed that their graph is heading in an upward direction.

“We were steadily busy from 2011 to 2013 and then things quietened down a bit. Thankfully, business is steady now, we’re fairly busy and quite happy with how things are going.

“It’s pretty even between the sales and hire sides of the company. The workshop  is always busy, it was even busy during the bad times, while sales on small equipment is quite good. As regards the bigger equipment, we’d hope that all enquiries will turn into sales.”

Rockbreakers’ company portfolio and diversity of equipment continues to grow. Relentless investment ensures that their customers are consistently provided with the most modern, environmentally friendly and cost effective machines available in the current market.

Their renowned reliability comes from machines manufactured by a respected name such as Atlas Capco.
