A decade of mechanical excellence

5 Jul , 2017

For the past ten years, HTC Mechanical Services Ltd. has been delivering unrivalled commercial, industrial and residential plumbing and heating solutions to clients throughout Ireland and the UK. We dropped into their Coalisland, County Tyrone head office and met director Justin Campbell to get an insight into this exceptional family business.

Established as a limited company by Hugh Campbell in 2007, HTC Mechanical Services specialise in providing complete mechanical service installations to new and existing commercial, industrial and residential properties and boast vast experience and expertise in this field, having completed a wide range of projects within the public sector, for education authorities and health services, as well as private clients and developments.

The team at HTC Mechanical Services is fully committed to quality service and take pride in their efficient, friendly, professional and reliable service from first point of contact right through to completion, encompassing meeting clients, offering expert advice, installation and aftersales maintenance.

Services provided include project design; oil, gas and biomass installations / upgrades; plumbing, heating, and sanitary ware installations; insulation; ventilation and air conditioning; and full testing and commissioning of these systems.

Efficiency is of paramount consideration these days and HTC Mechanical Services supply and install heat recovery systems which allow the heat produced to be used as effectively as possible, as well as being a BBA-approved installer of loft and cavity wall insulation to new and existing domestic properties. Furthermore, HTC specialise in the supply, installation and commissioning of various methods of renewable energy including solar panels and ground source heat pumps.

With all installers Gas Safe registered, HTC Mechanical Services provide full gas installation and maintenance, including supply and fitting of all pipework, boilers and larger projects including plant rooms complete with full control installation and testing.

HTC Mechanical Services are continually committed to working in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly manner, having held both ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditations for numerous years and continually striving to improve the operation of the company to help sustain and improve the quality of their service going forward.

Reflecting on the genesis of the business, director Justin Campbell notes: “My father, Hugh, who’s still a director, set it up as a limited company in 2007 but he had been working in the mechanical sector as a sole trader since 1996. We now cover all of Ireland, north and south, and the UK and carry a crew of 30 men as well as calling upon the services of carefully-chosen subcontractors and former employees – people we trust and can depend upon, who take pride in the quality of their work and can match the very high standards that HTC insist upon.”

Honesty and endeavour have been key to the enduring success of the father-and-son-managed business. “A lot of it comes down to hard work and making sure that we are efficient and put in a quality product,” says Justin. “We have a nice atmosphere here as well. You have to enjoy your work and take a team approach. We’re all part of a team here and we take pride in each finished job. Also, myself and my father are always on site and make ourselves available to our clients around the clock.”

Being able to provide a one-stop shop solution for all commercial, industrial and residential mechanical needs also helps… “We have an excellent design team here in the office and we can provide a full package from design through to installation as well as ongoing maintenance work,” Justin confirms.

HTC Mechanical Services have forged a particularly strong reputation in the education and healthcare sectors and have secured a number of prestigious public sector projects south of the border. “We’ve been active in the Republic of Ireland for ten years and did full mechanical installations on four new-build schools for the Department of Education last year – Gaelscoil Thulach na nÓg in Dunboyne, Scoil Chaitlín Maude in Tallaght, Scoil Aiofe in Citywest and Scoil Oscair in Lucan. We also did a new building at St James’ Hospital in 2016 and have an upcoming installation at the new Educate Together National School in Kiltoy, Letterkenny.”

By embracing the latest systems and technologies, HTC Mechanical Services are able to retain a commanding position at the forefront of the market. “It’s very important from the point of view of efficiency and cost to use the most modern methods possible. All of our personnel are fully trained and we regularly send them to refresher courses. By incorporating the latest designs and cutting-edge technology, you can deliver a finished project that is as user-friendly as possible for the client.”

Looking to the future, Justin is confident that both consolidation and growth could be on the horizon. “Our aim is to continue growth and expansion whilst maintaining our high quality of service and installation,” he concludes. “

“We’re growing all the time and in recent years, we have expanded into completing sizeable projects in the UK. We’ve recently completed a large college in North Wales for the Education Board and we’re currently working on a new school in Stamford, London. We are fully capable of undertaking large projects on the mainland and have the experience of successfully completing various technically challenging projects we hope to expand in that market as well.”

Since becoming a limited company ten years ago, HTC Mechanical Services has quickly developed into one of Ireland’s premier commercial heating and plumbing contractors; all the indications are that the success of this progressive enterprise will continue for the foreseeable future and beyond.
